Tomorrow I will be in London for the Google travel conference (where I will be on the expert panel).
3 Google executives are going to outline what they do and then the audience, plus 3 experts, will get an opportunity to ask questions.
My previous (significant) posts about Google:
- Would your business cope if Google stopped sending you (free) traffic? - an overview of what Google has achieved in online travel so far and how important they have become
- If I were working at Google….. what would Google Travel look like? (and no, as some people suggested, I wasn’t looking for a job!)
Will we get announcements from Google? I don’t think so. Will we get a statement about the trademark issue? Probably….
Anyway, up in London tonight…… and going to see the Joseph musical featuring Lee Mead.

Alex,
As I said in a old comment, please :
Ask the Google guys if they will extend their trademark policy (like US & UK) to others european country.
In France I think they can’t because our trademark laws…
And if you want to tease the Google team, ask them about Google Universal Search and their per per click schema in this new ecosystem.
If you want more questions I have some more teasing in my pocket.
best regards from France
Claude
Hi Claude,
Thanks for your question. Google stated that it was intended to be a global policy (now currently in place for US, UK and Ireland) - but they were going to take into account local, applicable, law in each country. In particular they mentioned France may be harder.
Cheers. Alex
Bonjour Alex,
Thanks, you confirm my first strong intuition : Google Global Policy
Hopefully for us in France, it could be hard to Google to avoid our internal law. But maybe they want to change the french law, even at the Europe level
Just kinding !
I agree with you,we have now a shift between Google and it’s tourism customers (and other). I can tell I saw every week people who are thinking about alternative stratégies…
I would be interested to know what alternatives to Google are……
Perhaps everyone should support Microsoft - and try to get them more “in the game” - and hopefully the competition would benefit everyone.
