CountryBrands - find that destination marketing logo when you need it

Friday, August 29th, 2008

If you are creating an advert, writing a blog post or pimping a travel website sometimes you just need to find an icon or image from an appropriate destination marketing organisation (normally a Government organisation)…..

CountryBrands is the place to go.

As good as it is, I would also look to add:

  • Brand icons over time - as it would be interesting to watch progression
  • Track any press releases that destination marketing organisations publish about their branding strategy
  • Regional and city brand icons

Anyway, go and take a look at CountryBrands - one for the bookmarks

Thanks Alex for the feedback! Like your ideas for developing the site.

Bit weak at the moment in terms of representation across the continents.

Based on the places you’ve visited, does the look and feel of any particular logos strongly match your emotions associated with that experience?

Being only a small part of an overall brand, and more complex than say a travel business brand, it’s interesting to see how the country logos tally up with an individual’s perception of a destination.

I prefer the simpler designs like Brazil (http://countrybrands.org/gallery/3/south-america/10/brazil/7/brazil) or The Bahamas (http://countrybrands.org/gallery/13/north-america/14/bahamas/9/bahamas) where they are less closely associated with a particular feature or icon.

    Thanks,

    Dominic

    Hi Dominic
I was thinking of a game - where you remove the “destination word” - leaving just the design.

Then give a multiple choice for which country it represents.

That would quite quickly enable you to create a “Top 10″ of which logos best, via design, represent their countries. Would make great “press release” fodder.

Only a thought. You have probably got better things to do!

These designs are great - really fresh and vibrant. I like Bulgaria.

    Hi Ray!
    Nice to see you here!
They need to get you involved and they would be much better designs!
    Cheers. Alex

    Hi Alex,

I think it’s a cracking idea. Will definitely give it more thought - and as you say, bit of a balance trying to fit it in! Cheers
