Anyone want me to review their website? [#3]

Friday, October 17th, 2008

I have asked this a couple of times in the past and reviewed:

  • OkTaTaByeBye - a travel community website in India
  • Panedia - panoramic photos service from Australia

So anyone else want to go under the Musings microscope? Anyone want a bit of free coverage that goes to over 500 online travel thought leaders and assorted journalists….. (not that those two groups are mutually exclusive of course!)

Place your URL in the comments below and write a short comment stating why you should be picked. I will chose one that, when written up, will make the most interesting blog post for everyone.

    Hi Alex,

    I’ll be brave….sure!

    http://www.thebigday.com

Focus on the travel section rather than registry though, for relevance to your readers. Good example of a destination that has “all the goodies” is Tahiti (destination guide, Google maps for the resorts, photo albums, our own videos, etc.)

    Cheers,

My site isn’t a “travel” blog per se, it is a travelouge. One of the larger ones on the internet.

I’ve been traveling for 19 months now, visiting over 40 countries and territories, including many never go to (Nauru, Kiribati, Easter Island).

    G’day Alex,

This isn’t relevant to your latest review request, but I thought you’d be interested to check out a new service we launched from Panedia last week.

    http://embed.panedia.com

The ability for anyone to take our content/panos/maps & add them to their own website. There is a lot more capability still to come in this site, with the ability to create multiple map layers & add your own custom markers/data as well. Here is a working example of an Interactive Race Track Map:

    http://maps.indy.com.au

    And a National Park: http://panedia.com/imaps/fraser.htm

The service is free for non-commercial use, with monthly fees for tourism operators etc.

BTW: we’re about to start working on the open system to allow other ‘quality’ pano photographers to put their content into Panedia… ie very selective crowd sourcing :)

    Thanks, Aaron Spence.

My attempt to help ALL travelers (not just the ones who come in to our hotel) to understand the travel game as it is played now, especially with the dominant Third Party ‘discount’ sites that aren’t really discounts at all. I offer tips and advice on everything from etiquette in foreign countries to getting rented golf clubs delivered to your hotel!

Would LOVE to hear your input.

    Alex,

It would be great if you could check out PlanetEye (planeteye.com), a travel planning service that combines geotagged photographs, mapping technology and extensive content. At the very least, your feedback would be appreciated.

    Hi Alex!

A friend forwarded me your site and suggested we submit our site - GeckoGo.com for review . We just launched Oct 1st this year. GeckoGo is designed for the independent traveller (someone not interested in all-inclusive vacations tropical vacations) with the goal of helping them plan their trip and to enable the sharing of travel tips and advice with one another. We’ve got a lot of ideas of where to improve but would love to get another opinion! We have an ambitious scope (to make everything open and editable, yet properly categorized and searchable), so I’d love to be able to get your take on how we’ve done and where we could do better.

GeckoGo was built by four friends pretty much out of pocket. What’s interesting about us is our use of social sites such as Facebook and MySpace and how it integrates with our site. GeckoGo also has a number of map recommendation tools that give you suggestions of good places to go based on your interests.

Hope to get picked, but either way, looking forward to the review!

Is it still Tuesday? … Just about! You are most welcome to review our service.

It’s very simple - you are travelling; you have a question and wish you could check the internet for the answer, but can’t for any reason; you text Textamundo; an agent finds the answer and texts you back. 55p.

Hey Alex. I apologise for not inputing a more convincing argument for the ‘review’ of itineraryshare.com
I think that we need a complete, honest review from your self because I believe that we have a site that is on the cusp of gaining some decent credibility, but needs some tweeks here and there to get to that next level. We are working hard ourselves, but we are not ‘travel industry’ experts or pros like yourself, so we would benefit greatly from your professional insight.

    Thank you Alex

    Hi Alex

We are still working on it, but we’ll soon launch http://www.paradizo.com a Luxury Travel & Lifestyle Marketplace. And it will be interesting to have your opinion then. At this moment we offer news, tips and inspirations on http://blog.paradizo.com

    Thanks

    Hey everyone
Ended up reviewing Pokin’s site - GeckoGo - on this post
    GeckoGo review

Sorry it has taken so long to come back to this thread

As for the others - there will always be a next time! I have taken a look at all of your sites and will, when appropriate, use as examples when I have a particular point to make with my general travel ecommerce articles.

    Cheers. Alex
